Q2 W1 News

Hello Families,

Mrs. Arnold and I look forward to meeting with you this week during parent-teacher conferences. If you have forgotten what your time slot is, here is the link to the sign up.

Tutoring and Clubs:
All days this week are half days.
There is no tutoring or clubs during conference week.

Resources:
We want to draw your attention to our colleague, Mr. Naaktgeboren's Blog. He has a wealth of resources that you may find helpful throughout the next quarter. He has spent the last couple of years building a site where fourth grade parents can find extra study materials to use at home with their child. When you visit his blog, click the resources tab to explore all the different subject areas. Please note that each fourth grade class moves at a similar, yet different pace. Please refer back to your child's planner and our blog for specifics regarding upcoming tests, quizzes, and class announcements.

One of my favorite pieces of the blog is the Science Tab. If you find that your child isn't quite grasping concepts from class at home, some of the supplemental videos may help.

Europe Project:
Need some inspiration for the Europe Project? We have included some photos of previous years' projects, below.

Due Date: Monday, November 12th
- Three-Paragraph Essay
The essay is about the topics your child researched. They can write about what they found important or interesting. This essay is to be typed and is not to be attached to the actual poster.
- One-Paragraph Reflection Essay:
The essay should be a reflection of your child's experience with the project. Your child can write about what he or she enjoyed, would or wouldn't do again, expected or didn't expect. This reflection is on the process of the project itself so they are better prepared for future projects. This essay should also be typed.
- Project Research Packet:
This is the packet your child should have most filled out at this point with the information they have found in books or on the internet. Not every blank needs to be completed, but it should be mostly complete and be legible.

Students should bring in their trifold and visual (architecture, dress, or food), on the day of their presentation. A schedule of what day their  presentation will be released shortly.

Homework:
Head over to the Homework Tab for information about our lessons, this week.
